Programs & Services

The RDC supports a diverse group of youths and adults through various projects and initiatives. We equip young individuals with essential resources to thrive in their educational pursuits, including school supplies and scholarships. Furthermore, we provide a range of mentorship programs that encompass psychosocial support, guidance in college essay writing and applications, peer support, and opportunities to foster interpersonal and social connections. We support adults by providing resources to make them self sufficient, such as english, finance, computer, and citzenship classes.

Training & Mentorship

The Training & Mentorship program offers targeted support to both refugee youth and adults to ensure successful integration into U.S. society. This program is divided into:
- Youth Program: This includes the Refugee Youth Dream Project, Youth Soccer, Ten Young Refugee Men, Domestic Violence Prevention, and the Summer Refugee Youth Cycling Project. These initiatives aim to help young refugees succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.
- Adult Program: The Adult Training & Mentorship services provide refugees with essential skills for personal and professional development. These services include Citizenship Classes, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Classes, Financial Literacy Workshops, Computer/Digital Literacy Training, and Job Search Assistance.

Reception & Placement

R&P program provides funds for refugees to have caseworker support for 90 days from arrival. A dedicated caseworker is provided to each refugee and their family to assist them in navigating their new life. R&P services must include: pick-up at the airport; housing (securing housing, furniture, establishing utilities); transportation training (e.g. how to use the bus); cultural orientation (cultural mores, financial literacy, U.S. laws); enrollment in English language courses; benefits registration; medical care; enrollment in employment services; and, school enrollment. After three months, refugees are expected to be self-sufficient, meaning that they are employed and make enough money to pay their rent and other household expenses. They also need to understand how to navigate relevant systems in the U.S., such as accessing medical care.

Integration Services

The Integration Services program offers support for refugees as they transition to life in the U.S. and work toward self-sufficiency. The following services ensure refugees are able to access the resources they need to thrive: housing support, employment services, general case management for medical or legal issues, food distribution, interpreting, transportation, and offering guidance and referrals as necessary.

Advocacy & Outreach

The Advocacy & Outreach program is designed to build connections within refugee communities and the broader public, raising awareness about the challenges and successes of refugee populations. The program focuses on both outreach to individuals and advocacy efforts on behalf of refugees. Key services include: community outreach, media and marketing, phone check-ins, networking and referrals, and advocacy efforts.
