Isabel Kayembe

Case Worker

Isabel is one of our valuable case workers! She dedicates herself to assisting numerous refugees on a weekly basis by addressing their housing needs, job placement, interpreting, health promotion, and cultural training. Her own journey as a refugee was a result of the Angolan Civil War and after spending 17 years in a refugee camp in Namibia she has a profound understanding of the challenges refugees face. Isabel emerged as a leader in the camp, supporting fellow refugees to survive while working for a UNHCR-funded project. Trained and certified as a community health worker by the RI Department of Health, she is currently pursuing a degree at the Community College of Rhode Island. During her leisure time, Isabel finds joy in playing and watching soccer, crafting, and dancing.
