RI refugee advocates criticize Trump’s immigration response to DC shooting

Dr. Omar Bah, condemned the shooting, saying the victims did not deserve to be attacked or harmed in any way. At the same time, he criticized what he described as a “targeted attack” by the federal government on immigrants — particularly refugees and Afghan communities — in response.

Bah also pointed to comments Trump made during a cabinet meeting earlier this week, when the president criticized Somali immigrants and suggested they should be removed from the U.S.

“I don’t want them in our country, I’ll be honest with you,” Trump said. “Somebody would say, ‘Oh that’s not politically correct.’ I don’t care. I don’t want them in our country.”
